My work is about landscape, with elements borrowed from nature, architecture, and the human form. I am interested in the relationships between these elements, their codependence and interconnectivity.
My process is a conversation between the conscious and the unconscious; a visceral reaction to the world around me deliberately constructed into tangible form. I often begin with a loose drawing, then the change from 2D to 3D inevitably occurs. Sometimes there is no drawing or starting point, just my hands on the clay. However the starting point has, of course, evolved from a continuous practice, as one piece feeds into the next. A lifetime’s conversation, through process and repetition, searching and renegotiating my own reflections, to a quest with no finite answers.
