• Oak trees are mature at 75 years and have an average lifespan of 150-250 years. However, the oldest oak trees are over 1,000 years old!

• There are two main oak leaf groups: White Oak Group, and Red Oak Group

• Not all oak leaves have wavy lobes such as those in this piece; most oak leaves are rounded with point

• There are over 500 species of oak trees across the globe
